    REFLECTION

    Experience

In this Semester, we had learned more about publishing design. It was quite sad that we did not have any physical as I'm sure we'll be able to get more hands on experience but I still have learnt a lot from this semester. This module is the time where everything we have learnt from the first very semester all come together and we get to see how much we have learnt and grow from the task 3A.

It was quite a tough semester, but it was rewarding, and I'm sure there will be more even more challenges coming especially the internship that is coming very soon. There's still so much doubt, I'm still lacking so much and not good enough to even join any studio or agency. I think I did okay for the first 2 years of BDCM, but honestly I feel like I could have done better, I don't think I have a good portfolio for anything.

    Observation

I should also really sharpen my technical skills in using the adobe software, especially illustrator with the pen tool. A lot of my works are just simple geometric shapes and it have been restricting me from trying to do things that are more playful, and illustration. I also need to learn more shortcut tools and technical skills because it has really been slowing me down and restrict me from working efficiently.

    Finding

Honestly I'm not the type of person to read books, I find them kind of hard to digest and I tend to watch videos instead. This module helped me realized how beautiful print can be. How much care and creativity are given. I was definitely not aware of how designers put so much care into grids and margin. I thought we just use, a standard margin, then the interesting layout only begins in the grid.

I find it really helpful to have people critic my work, since it's my own work a lot of times I fail to leave myself out of my work and think critically. In some way I realized as I got a little more confident in my own work, I'm slowly becoming more and more defensive and arrogant. I really care a lot about design and I put my everything into it, so when people question it my first response is always just being defensive. Which is obviously a very bad attitude. I probably should just have a reset at everything; my mindset, attitude etc. Also reevaluate myself and start slowly building it from the base again.
