Project 1 - Breaking Brand

Select an existing brand, preferably a large brand that has a regional or international presence for the purpose of analysis. Breaking brand essentially requires the student to deconstruct a brand.

A)Brand Profile
B) Expanded Brand Profile

Chosen brand
Uniqlo

Fig 1
Uniqlo Logo

We decided to choose Uniqlo because it is fast fashion brand but at the same time it is quite different from other brand such as Prada, H&M, The Gap etc. Uniqlo is well known for embracing minimalism and produces products that are simple and laid back and doesn't follow trends.

This video is an interview with Sagi Haviv conducted by The Futur. Sagi Haviv is a New York-based graphic designer and a partner in the design firm Chermayeff & Geismar & Haviv. Some of the logos they have designed include; Chase Bank, National Geographic, Us Open and many more.

I think this is a very good video that explains about what is a logo, the purpose and what is define as a good logo. I really like how when Sagi Haviv explains things, he explains it in a very simple and straight forward way that is very easy for us to understand. He also had talked about some of his past experience with clients.

He had also talked about things outside of logo design area such as imposter syndrome, how do you communicate with clients/ colleagues .Overall it's very interesting to see how do Sagi Haviv thinks, how does he deal with certain situation, and how does the logo design process looks like.
