I think it looks great except that it does feel a little plain. We were suppose to add some texture to the pear but I was struggling with both finding a good texture and trying to do it in Illustrator.

Chiaroscuro Selfie

In this exercise, we will be doing a chiaroscuro illustration with our own selfie
First attempt

Second attempt

Final Submission
Fig 1. 12

I think it looks okay but I'm not really happy with how the shadows on the right side of the neck looks. Maybe I could have add more details and different shades of black.

Fan Art

In this exercise, we have to do a fan art of combining 2 characters together into one.

Sketches

Final Version
Fig 1. 15

I feel like the colour of the character is very bright. Maybe even a bit too bright. It also doesn't really give me the same old vintage feeling Cup Head is giving me. So I'm quite disappointed at this work. I think maybe I could have have the shirt as black colour since the facial expression should be enough for people to recognise it's Crayon Shin Chan.

Comic Exercise
Life in Pandemic

Fig1.16

This is a true story that happen to me during pandemic. I didn't workout for a very long time and my club team finally decided to host some workout session. For some reason I decided to have Mc Donald's right before my workout so I felt very sick while working out. In the middle of the workout I went to the toilet to vomit. It's pretty awkward especially when I'm part of the committee member in that club and there were a lot of new people who just joined the club.

I like how the story and some of the panels go. But I think for art board 5, 6 I can definitely do better. Also the character structure and lines are very inconsistent. Overall I think the work is acceptable but definitely not good.

Abstract Art

Fig 1.17

Well there's nothing I can say other than this work is terrible, it look nothing like the original art I was trying to recreate at all. I was really struggling with the tools in Photoshop like Lasso tools etc... I do understand that it was my first ever time using photoshop to do art but I was expecting that since I did abstract art for a few years before, I was hoping that my result would at least looks close to the original artwork. well it turns out pretty bad.

Final Submission

Fig 1.14

I like the colours of the character, but after a few days from submitting the work. I sudden feel like the character's colour doesn't really match the background. I don't know why I only realised that after submitting the work but I guess it's  too late now. I probably have to make sure I double check triple check my work and make sure everything is good before submitting.

Fig 2.6

I personally really like Fig 2.6, I feel like the silhouette is really clear and the I really like the colour of it. But I feel like Fig 2.5 the Pennywise is the true icon of the movie so I decided to choose that and try to work with it more.

Final animation submission

Fig 2.13

Honestly I'm quite proud with this work. I really like the colour one the very simple minimalistic  animation. But the keyword I had when creating the poster is spooky. Pennywise is a very scary character and I just don't think that the poster I did is anywhere close to the keyword at all. The only elements that is enhancing the spooky feeling is the blood dripping. It is a good looking poster in my opinion but I just don't think it represents the character well enough. It looks good, but it means nothing.

FINAL PROJECT

Project 3 / Animation Comic

Animated Version

I like the theme and story of my comic. I also really like the outfit of the character. It feels like a very interesting looking environment and a bit of comedy in my mind. But sadly my comic aren't able to deliver the idea well enough.

I was struggling with my time management and I was a bit falling behind. So I tried my best to catch up and I didn't have time to add details to the background. The lines for the character is also very inconsistent. I don't think my comic aesthetic looks as good as what I planned to do. I think it's a good choice to go for black and white and give some old feeling to the aesthetic. But I feel like I can definitely do better on some of the panels with the lights and shadows.

The animation is okay, I like some of the animation such as the flickering lights, moving fish etc... I like some of the panels where the character isn't moving and it's only the fish and tiny elements moving on the back. I feel like it's quite unique. I definitely need to work on the character animation. Some of the animation of the character especially when he walks it looks very fake and weird.

Overall I think it looks okay since it was my first ever time doing it, it definitely needs a lot of improvement especially the drawing skills and the consistency of the lines.
